From precarious to prosperous

The Story

The Story

Beyene, 42, and his son Kefita, 17, hold eucalyptus seedlings and discuss farming at their nursery deep in the forest outside Konso, Ethiopia. They also grow coffee, avocado and mango, and sell them to their local agriculture office.

Beyene and Kefita participated in our programme designed to build the resilience of climate-vulnerable people in Ethiopia. Through this programme, they’re now able to expand their business and grow more produce to sell locally.

“Previously, I had only ambition,” say Beyene, recalling the moment he received a grant from Mercy Corps. “It was a complete surprise to me…I felt like I was born again.”
