The Story

Nondumiso Sibiya and Sbusiso Shongwe are the founders of BoombaDotMobi in Johannesburg, an organisation that provides a sustainable outlet for personal and commercial waste of any kind.

BoombaDotMobi is a trusted partner in the Johannesburg area that connects waste producers with waste claimers, organises customised pick-ups and guarantees a responsible and clean disposal within the township of Diepsloot. By providing pictures of the final disposal, they hold themselves accountable to high moral standards and with a careful selection of logistic partners and disposal location, they step up against illegal dumping and sustainably contribute to a clean township environment.

This photograph of Sibiya and Shongwe was captured during a visit by the WasteAid Circular Economy Network Project Manager Angela Ludek to their farm site where they use different types of composting to help close the loop on food waste while driving profit and driving employment in the area. The WasteAid Circular Economy Network is supporting organisations like BoombaDotMobi in their quest to build an inclusive circular economy in South Africa.
